Improving End - to - End Performance of the Web Using Server Volumes and Proxy Filters 3

چکیده
The rapid growth of the World Wide Web has caused serious performance degradation on the Internet. This paper ooers an end-to-end framework by collectively examining the Web components { clients, proxies, servers, and the network. Our goal is to reduce user-perceived latency and the number of TCP connections, improve cache coherency and cache replacement, and enable prefetching of resources that are likely to be accessed in the near future. In our scheme, server response messages include piggybacked information customized to the requesting proxy. Our enhancement to the existing request-response protocol does not require per-proxy state at server or per-server state at the proxy, and can be implemented without changes to HTTP 1.1. The server groups related resources into volumes (based on access patterns and the le system's directory structure) and applies a proxy-generated lter (indicating the type of information of interest to the proxy) to tailor the piggyback information. We present eecient data structures for constructing server volumes and applying proxy lters, and a transparent way to perform volume maintenance and piggyback generation at a router along the path between the proxy and the server. We demonstrate the eeectiveness of our end-to-end approach by evaluating various volume construction and ltering techniques across a collection of large client and server logs.

The response speed of Web pages is one of the necessities of information technology. In recent years, renowned companies such as Google and computer scientists focused on speeding up the web. Achievements such as Google Pagespeed, Nginx and varnish are the result of these researches. In Customer to Customer(C2C) business systems, such as chat systems, and in Business to Customer(B2C) systems, s...

The extent and diversity of systems provided by IP networks have made various technologies to approach integrating various types of access networks and converting to next generation network. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) with respect to facilities such as being in text form, end-to-end connection, independence from the type of transmitted data, and supporting various forms of transmissi...
متن کاملArchitecture and pragmatics of server-directed transcoding
Proxy-based transcoding adapts Web content to be a better match for client capabilities (such as screen size and color depth) and last-hop bandwidths. Traditional transcoding breaks the end-to-end model of the Web, because the proxy does not know the semantics of the content. Server-directed transcoding preserves end-to-end semantics while supporting aggressive content transformations. We show ...
متن کاملProposal and Implementation of SSH Client System Using Ajax
Technology called Ajax gives web applications the functionality and operability of desktop applications. In this study, we propose and implement a Secure Shell (SSH) client system using Ajax, independent of the OS or Java execution environment. In this system, SSH packets are generated on a web browser by using JavaScript and a web server works as a proxy in communication with an SSH server to ...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Transcoding-Enabled Streaming Media Caching System
We evaluate the performance of transcoding-enabled streaming media caching proxy system (TeC). TeC is designed for efficient delivery of rich media web contents to heterogeneous network environments and client capabilities. Depending on the connection speed and processing capability of an end user, the proxy transcodes the requested (and possibly cached) video into an appropriate format and del...
